Garhwa Villagers Injured in Police Clash Over Mandal Dam Rehabilitation Site
Garhwa: Nine villagers were reportedly injured in a clash with police in Barwara village of Garhwa on Saturday.The incident occurred when Garhwa deputy commissioner Dinesh Kumar Yadav and superintendent of police Aman Kumar, along with a team of officials, visited the Barwara forest area to inspect the proposed rehabilitation site for villagers displaced by the North Koel Project (Mandal Dam). At the time, displaced villagers currently settled in the Bishrampur area began protesting, stating that they did not want to relocate. Barwara is 3-4km away from Bishrampur.

As some villagers allegedly became aggressive, police reportedly resorted to lathi charge, leaving nine injured. Garhwa SP Aman Kumar denied the allegation. “Some villagers were injured after falling to the ground while fleeing,” he said.
